Recently, the Russian authorities announced the catch quota (TAC) of Pollock in the Far East in 2021. The total catch quota is 1.996 million tons, which is about 9% higher than that in 2020 (1.834 million tons).

Among them, the quota of Okhotsk Sea in 2021 is 1.06 million tons, which is 4000 tons lower than that in 2020 (1.064 million tons); the quota of West Bering Sea is 415000 tons (the quota in 2020 is 39000 tons); the quota of East Sakhalin area is 126100 tons (the quota in 2020 is 125000 tons).

At present, the Haddock fishery in the sea of Okhotsk in Russia has passed the MSc certification, while some Pollock fisheries in the West Bering Sea (about 275000 tons) are undergoing the fishery improvement project assessment (FIP).

When the quota index is released, the Russian authorities will decide the quota allocation of fishing companies, scientific research institutions and coastal fishermen. Alexey buglak, President of the Russian Pollock Fishing Association (PCA), told Ucn that a quota of 185-1855 million tons was expected to be allocated to fishing companies.

However, the supply of MSC Pollock in 2021 is still variable, because the Russian fishing company (RFC) was removed from the list by the Russian Pollock fishing association due to government lobbying, and the use of MSC labels was not allowed in the Okhotsk Sea catch. However, the Russian fishery company said it would conduct an independent MSc certification audit.

According to the source, in 2019, the Russian fishery company's production of PBO fillets will be about 43000 tons, including 13000 tons of MSC certified products and 2500 tons of surimi products. In addition, the Russian fishery company exports about 70000 tons of MSC certified H & G raw fish every year. The raw materials are processed into MSC certified Pollock jelly in China, and the output is about 40000 tons.
